Dr David Bell is a specialist in the management of traumatic injuries of the musculoskeletal system, deformity correction and degenerative conditions of the hip and knee.
He is trained in current surgical techniques including minimally invasive and keyhole surgical techniques. Dr David Bell graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1995. He obtained his surgical fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2001 and was conferred the Masters of Medicine in Orthopaedics by the Academy of Medicine of Singapore in April 2002. He completed Advanced Specialist Training in Orthopaedic Surgery, obtaining the FRCS Ed (Orth) in 2006.
He was awarded the Ministry of Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Scholarship to train at the Charite University in Berlin, Germany in the specialist fields of Adult Reconstruction in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty and management of complex musculoskeletal trauma. He was involved in the care of the German women’s hockey and football teams during his time there.
After his fellowships, he served as Consultant and Director of the Orthopaedic Trauma Service at Changi General Hospital (CGH), and Clinical Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
He still remains as a visiting consultant at Changi General Hospital, lending expertise in the areas of complex trauma management and joint reconstruction.
Dr Bell’s interests are in the management of hip and knee conditions. He is trained in the use of innovative and minimally invasive surgical techniques, leading to better outcomes for his patients.
He is also active in medical education, having received the Orthopaedic Teaching Excellence Award. He is also a member of the AO International, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the care of patients with musculoskeletal injuries, and has served as chairman and instructor for numerous international and regional instructional courses.
